Film capacitor with mica film Terminals: Copper wire, tin-plated Potting: Epoxy resin / oil-vacuum impregnation Contacting: Low-resistance silver electrode Terminal length: 40.0 mm Capacitance: 0.010 µF Nominal voltage: 1000 V C- Tolerance: ± 1 % Dissipation factor: tang <0.0005 at 1 kHz. In order to achieve maximum resolution, loudspeakers must be able to follow the music signal in time, even with the finest details. However, as every capacitor requires a finite time to charge, which is proportional to its capacitance, physics can be outwitted by connecting a small capacitor, also known as a bypass capacitor, in parallel with the large capacitance. This small, high-quality bypass capacitor attaches itself to the heels of each individual peak and uncovers the subtlest of distortions in the audio signal. This circuit variant is also described in the literature as a pulse capacitor. The highest quality capacitor for this application is the MICA mica capacitor. This tuning variant can be easily integrated into existing crossovers, as the value 0.010 µF is very small and does not change the filter characteristics, but significantly improves the impulse quality.
